Accelerator Announces 'Evolve Insurance Award'
The Allianz Digital Accelerator builds new business models for Allianz and accelerates their execution and implementation within Allianz to ultimately better serve and build value for our customers.
We are a brand new organization, currently headquartered in Munich. Our team of experienced business and engagement managers work with you to identify, explore and implement opportunities and projects impacting our core business to help improve the experience and lives of our customers. It’s our goal to assure speed in implementing our joint business models, leveraging Allianz’s global scale.

Bernd ScharrerManaging Director
Bernd is our core relationship caretaker and builder within Allianz. His vast knowledge of such a large and complex global organization comes from having held diverse senior leadership roles within Allianz. His previous roles ranged from managing Health Business, Operations Management and the Customer Care Center, as well as being the COO of Allianz China Life in Shanghai.
Dr. Sebastian SieglerschmidtManaging Director
Sebastian is our Entrepreneur-in-Chief. Most recently, he has been a seed investor, business angel, and business building consultant after successfully exiting from an own online retailer initially formed as part of the Rocket Internet incubator. Previously, he has spent 5 years at McKinsey with focus on Marketing & Sales.
Ruth has deep global experience as a corporate entrepreneur, relentlessly driving new thinking within very large organizations. She launched the Digital Labs initiative at Allianz in September 2012 to help drive corporate innovation, and previously served as Senior Global Digital Manager at PepsiCo, running the emerging technology incubator PepsiCo10.
In addition to assisting the managing directors, Ute strengthens the team by managing strategic projects and supporting key work streams aimed at innovating new products and business models for Allianz. She joined the Digital Accelerator team in September 2013 to coordinate communications and recruiting activities.
Ester has been with the Accelerator since its inception, masterfully tracking key initiatives from early scoping through development and roll-out. Having joined Allianz in 2009 in her native Spain, Ester moved to Munich and joined Allianz headquarters within the Broker Distribution Channel and later Group Market Management, where she worked on digital and mobile topics. She deploys her expertise in market research and project management to facilitate efficient, impactful product development in innovation.
Stefan brings 10 years of Allianz technology and strategy experience to the Digital Accelerator. In his time at Allianz, he has had several senior diverse roles in Germany sales group and in operations internationally. As the Allianz expert based on his extensive knowledge of the company and extensive IT experience, he brings new ideas, innovation and business models.
Fabian brings a wealth of international investment experience as well as operational excellence. Before joining Allianz, Fabian was Founder and CEO of an eEducation start-up based in London and Munich and worked as an Investment Manager at Holtzbrinck Digital, one of the leading internet investors in Germany. Since 2008 he holds a lectureship at the Steinbeis School of Management + Innovation and ADG Business School in the Bachelor and Master program Media Management/Digital Media Management.
Des Field Corbett
Des has over 15 years experience in designing and delivering financial software applications with market leaders such as Fidelity Investments and Munich RE. In previous roles, he has acquired a broad knowledge of the software business, holding senior positions in development, product management and business development. He began his career with Fidelity Investments in Boston, Massachusetts and since then lived in Dublin, London and Munich while also spending extended periods in Asia. During his career he has worked with insurers in every continent (with the exception of Antarctica!) and he frequently speaks at technology events.
